What would you do if your hard-earned money suddenly disappeared—without warning, without consent and any trace? Every day, many Filipinos fall victim to scams that look legitimate, and sound convincing. With scammers using increasingly convincing tactics—from fake loan offers to phishing messages—even the most careful consumers can be caught off guard.

This is why the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), has relaunched its Protect Your Money (PYM) Campaign, a nationwide effort to raise awareness, strengthen consumer protection, and help individuals safeguard their finances in an increasingly risky digital landscape. And as a BSP-supervised institution, Home Credit Philippines (HCPH) fully supports this initiative by empowering customers with the knowledge they need to safeguard their finances.

Why Financial Awareness is a Necessity

Scammers are constantly evolving their tactics—from phishing emails and fake Product Loan or HCQwarta to Cash offers to identity theft and social engineering schemes. In the Philippines, over 60% of Filipino adults experience financial scams each year, according to a 2025 report by the State of Scams in the Philippines greatly influenced by lack of education and awareness.

The Protect Your Money campaign is aimed at educating Filipinos about common fraud schemes, encouraging responsible financial behavior, and ensuring that consumers understand their rights when dealing with financial institutions.

Know Your Rights as a Financial Consumer

As a customer, you are protected under BSP regulations.

    • Right to Transparent Information: You deserve clear, accurate, and timely information about financial products and services, including fees, interest rates, and terms.
    • Right to Fair Treatment: Financial institutions must treat you fairly and ethically at all times.
    • Right to Data Privacy and Security: Your personal and financial information must be protected against unauthorized access.
    • Right to Redress: If something goes wrong, you have the right to file complaints and seek resolution.

Understanding these rights helps you make informed and wise decisions especially when handling out money or proceeding with any business transactions.

Common Scams to Watch Out For

To protect your hard-earned money, you should be aware of these common scams in the Philippines:

    • Phishing Scams: Fake emails or messages pretending to be from legitimate companies or institutions asking for your personal details such as bank account or password.
    • Online Loan Scams: Fraudulent lenders offering “instant approval” but requiring upfront fees or converting your Product Loan or HCQwarta to Cash only to disappear and leave you paying for the loan alone.
    • Investment Scams: Promises of guaranteed high returns with little to no risk.
    • AI Voice and Deepfake Scams: In today’s digital world, scammers are now using AI or apps to impersonate a company or a bank representative.
    • Account Takeover Fraud: Unauthorized access to your account through stolen credentials.

Home Credit’s Commitment to Your Financial Safety

Home Credit Philippines is committed to promoting financial literacy and protecting customers against fraud. Through the PYM campaign, HCPH actively shares educational content across its platforms to help you stay informed and secure.

Remember: staying vigilant and educated is your best weapon. By knowing your rights and recognizing scam tactics, you can make smarter financial decisions and protect your hard-earned money. Stay informed. Stay alert. Protect your money, Ka-HC!
