PNP Clearance: How to Get Your Police Clearance Online in the Philippines

Whether you are applying for a new job, updating your government records, or fulfilling a visa requirement, getting your PNP Clearance is usually high on your to-do list.  

The great news is that the days of standing in long, unpredictable lines just to fill out paper forms are over.

The Philippine National Police Clearance (PNP) lets you manage your registration, select a schedule, and handle payments online. Here is a simple breakdown of what you need to prepare and how the online process works. 

To begin your PNP clearance application, open your web browser and head directly to the official National Police Clearance System (NPCS) portal at pnpclearance.ph.

1. Register an Account: For first-time users, click on "Register" on the portal. Choose your language preference, check the agreement boxes, and fill out your personal details accurately. Use an active email address, as you will need to click a verification link sent to your inbox to activate your account.
2. Complete Your Profile: Log in using your new credentials, click the "Edit Profile" button, and complete any missing fields. Double-check your name, birthdate, and address for typos, as these details will be printed directly onto your final clearance certificate.
3. Schedule a Police Clearance Appointment Online: Click the "Clearance Application" button. Choose your preferred police station from the dropdown list, then select an available date and session (AM or PM) that fits your personal schedule.
4. Settle the Online Payment: Official police clearance fee is ₱150. Choose "Click here to Pay" to pull up your payment options. You can pay via LandBank ePayment Portal, GCash, Maya, or cash over the counter at partner stores like 7-Eleven. Save a copy of your electronic receipt right away.
5. Visit the Police Station: Show up at your selected police station during your scheduled time slot. Present your reference number, payment proof, and valid IDs to the officer. They will capture your live photo, digital signature, and electronic fingerprints. 

While the heavy lifting of PNP clearance registration happens on your computer or smartphone, you will still need to show up at your chosen police station for a quick biometrics capture.  

Make sure you pack these essentials in your bag:

• Two Valid IDs: Bring the original copies (not photocopies) of your government-issued identification cards. Your IDs must be unexpired, clear, and bear your full legal name, photo, and signature. Excellent options include your Passport, Driver’s License, PhilID (National ID), UMID, or SSS/GSIS ID.
• Your NPCS Reference Number: After completing your online application, the system generates a unique reference number. You can print this out or simply save a clear screenshot on your phone.
• Proof of Payment: Keep a copy of your official electronic receipt or a screenshot of your successful transaction confirmation from your payment app.

Are you a first-time job seeker? Thanks to the First-Time Jobseekers Assistance Act (RA 11261), you can get your PNP clearance for free. Just make sure to bring an original Barangay Certification stating that you are a first-time job seeker using it for employment purposes. 

If your name doesn't trigger a "hit" (a matching record in the national database), you may receive the clearance on the same day, subject to station processing times after your biometrics capture.

If you do get a hit, don't panic—it usually just means you share a similar name with someone else who has a record.  

The PNP clearance team will do a quick manual verification, and you will be advised to return after a few working days to claim your document once your name is cleared. Your final certificate will remain valid for exactly six months.
