    Scammers are becoming more creative in targeting unsuspecting Filipinos. Recently, alarming schemes have surfaced online that prey on Home Credit customers.

    • Hinihikayat kang mag-avail ng Home Credit Product Loan to Cash. Iaalok ng scammer na bilhin ang device (such as phone or gadget) with cash (sometimes higher than the original price).
    • I-aalok na i-convert and iyong HCQWARTA credit limit into cash, with scammers offering to handle the process.

    Why These Schemes Are Dangerous

    Scammers usually lure customers with promises of fast cash, zero hassle, and even assistance in paying the down payment.

    Can you really convert a Home Credit product loan or QWARTA to cash? Once the transaction is completed, it is the customer—not the scammer—who is legally bound to pay the loan.

    That means if you fall for these scams, you’re left shouldering the debt. Worse, bigla na lang nawawala or hindi makontak ang mga scammers na ito after pocketing the cash, and you’ll face mounting bills, penalties, and even possible legal cases.

    Illegal Under Philippine Law

    Engaging in “Home Credit Product Loan to Cash” or “QWARTA to Cash” schemes is not just risky—it’s against the law. Ayon sa Republic Act No. 12010 or the Anti-Financial Account Scamming Act (AFASA) at iba pang related regulations, using financing services for fraudulent purposes is considered a crime.

    Conversion of Home Credit Product Loans or QWARTA to cash, the use of or allowing the use of another person’s Home Credit account and pre-approved loan offer, as well as the promotion or facilitation of such activities (“Fraudulent Activities”), constitute criminal offenses under AFASA.

    Specifically, these acts are considered MONEY MULING, a form of FINANCIAL ACCOUNT SCAMMING under Section 4(a) of AFASA, which are punishable by:

    • Imprisonment of six (6) to eight (8) years;
    • A fine ranging from ₱100,000 to ₱500,000; or
    • Both imprisonment and fine

    Kaya kapag hinihikayat ka ng scammers na gamitin nang mali ang iyong loan o credit limit, isinasangkot ka nila sa isang illegal na gawain na siguradong pagsisisihan mo bandang huli.

    What Can Happen If You Entertain These Schemes

    Home Credit has been clear: huwag magpagamit dahil ikaw din ang maiipit. Here are the real consequences if you give in to these schemes:
