Millennials and Gen Zs are often dubbed as technologically savvy. Having witnessed the boom of the internet and the rise of mobile technologies, there’s no denying that for these age groups, there’s an app for everything.
Now entering the workforce, living independently, jump starting their careers, or building their own homes, Millennials and Gen Zs live busy lives. Adulting, as they say, is a balancing act, and for these bunch, the goal is to get things done the fastest way possible.
In this blog, we interviewed bloggers from Iloilo Bloggers Society to share their thoughts on why online payment on bills and more can make adulting more convenient.

What's the benefit of paying your bills and other transactions online?
Saves me time and money. I don't have to go to payment centers. Personally, I pay online for digital products, insurance, subscriptions, etc. It is very easy. I even pay my monthly rent via online platforms.
What are the common problems you encounter during bills payment and other online transactions?
Unavailability of some government entities (i.e. PhilHealth) on some payment platforms (GCash). Moreover, keeping a large sum of money in a digital wallet is risky as hacking/scamming is very rampant nowadays.
Do promos and rebates appeal to you when you pay your bills?
If there are any it would be helpful. Have not encountered any promo/rebate so far.
How convenient is online bills payment and other online transactions in your busy lifestyle?
Very convenient. It helps me stay productive as I do not have to spend time paying dues in person or via payment centers.

What's the benefit of paying your bills and other transactions online?
The top benefit for me is its 24/7 accessibility. It allows me to make payments and conduct transactions at any time. I am no longer constrained by traditional banking hours and office hours. I can finish my tasks for the day without worrying about missing due dates.
Online payment also eliminates the need for commuting, and lining up the counter, which saves the time of both consumers and businesses.
What are the common problems you encounter during bill payments and other online transactions?
To me, the most challenging is the customer support. I hope businesses will invest more in real people behind their support channels and not leave their customers talking to bots sending automated replies.
In online transactions, technical glitches, payment failures, and security concerns can happen sometimes, and I think, through effective customer service, these common risks in online payments can be acted on quickly and be addressed immediately.
Do promos and rebates appeal to you when you pay your bills?
Not necessarily.
Usually, promos and rebates are not given instantly. Sometimes, there are a lot of instructions that need to be followed before the customer can get the actual discount. If businesses want to give their customers savings and incentives, they can give it right away without too many things to be done.
How convenient are online bill payments and other online transactions in your busy lifestyle?
As discussed above, online transactions are accessible 24/7 which gives me flexibility to manage bills and financial activities at any time, day or night. It is also time-efficient because, in a few clicks, payments can be made quickly, freeing up time for other responsibilities.

Paying bills and doing transactions online are fast and very convenient. I can do it at home or wherever there is internet access, in just a few taps on my mobile device. Also, it is cost-effective as I don’t have to shell out something for transportation and other incidental expenses.

Some payment methods and apps experience downtimes, slow loading times, or unexpected errors which delay the transactions.

Yes, it would make me use the app or platform more if I get cashbacks or vouchers after paying.

It is very convenient as I don’t have to go somewhere to pay bills and manage transactions. Whether I’m working on something or traveling elsewhere for leisure, all I need is a device with internet connection and in a few breaks, I can already manage my finances. That saves me a lot of time.

The primary advantage of paying my bills online is convenience. In the past, especially when settling internet and electricity bills, I had to clear out a significant portion of my schedule to visit their branch, wait in queues, and risk service interruptions if I didn't arrive early. Online payments offer unparalleled convenience with just a few clicks, allowing me to manage my bills from anywhere with a stable internet connection.
What are the common problems you encounter during bills payment and other online transactions?
A common issue during bills payment and online transactions is app crashes after completing the payment. The lack of real-time transactions in some banking apps can lead to uncertainty about whether the payment went through. Receipts often reflect on your account days later, even though the money was deducted immediately. Additionally, the threat of potential account hacking looms as some websites may compromise personal information.

Not particularly. I don't pay much attention to promos and rebates.
4. How convenient is online bills payment and other online transactions in your busy lifestyle?
As a Gen Z individual juggling two jobs – working night shifts in a BPO Company and part-time blogging during the day – online bills payment proves extremely convenient. Given my unconventional schedule, traditional payment methods pose challenges as some offices close around the time I wake up in the afternoon. The flexibility of online bills payment, without time constraints, aligns perfectly with my busy lifestyle.
