    1. Is Philsys ID registration mandatory?
    National ID registration isn't mandatory for everyone. In case you decide not to, you won't be penalized under the Philippine Identification System Act. However, for most business and government transactions, the PhilSys ID is considered a primary ID and we highly recommend getting one for extra peace of mind.

    2. How many PhilSys ID types are available?
    The PhilSys ID comes in various formats: (1) the National ID or the physical card; and (2) the ePhilID, which can either be printed or downloaded. You can track your ePhilID availability via the TRN provided on your transaction slip.

    3. How long will the PhilSys ID be valid?
    For Filipino citizens, the national ID is valid for lifetime and will only be renewed upon the updating of demographic information and biometric information. For resident aliens, the is valid for only one (1) year and may be renewed annually.

    How can I get a PhilSys ID?

    Step 1: Visit A Registration Center Near You

    The first step you need when applying for a national ID is to visit a PhilSys Registration Center. You can find them at Fixed Registration Centers at PSA Regional and Provincial Offices or Registration Centers stationed in local malls. Then, present any of the following primary documents:

    • Certificate of Live Birth and 1 government-issued identification document containing your full name, front-facing photo, and signature or thumb mark;
    • Philippine Passport or ePassport
    • Unified Multi-purpose ldentification (UMID) Card; or
    • LTO-issued Student’s License Permit or Non- Professional/Professional Driver’s License

    Step 2: Store your Biometric Data

    After submitting all the required documents, your demographic data will be validated, and you will be asked to place your fingerprint, iris, and front-facing photo for biometric storage.

    Step 3: Wait for your PhilSys ID

    A transaction slip containing your transaction reference number (TRN) will be issues after your successful registration. This TRN is super important and can be used to track your national ID delivery. Here’s a smart tip: Take a photo of your transaction slip and send it your personal email or social messenger.
